## About the Role
Crunchyroll is hiring a Software Engineer for its Service Monetization Team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on building and optimizing the subscription and payments platform that powers Crunchyroll memberships and revenue collection. The team operates highly secure, distributed systems that process millions of payments.
## Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize reliable backend services for subscriptions and payments.
- Develop scalable services using Java, Go, Python, PHP, TypeScript, or Node.js.
- Build and maintain cloud-based services using AWS technologies.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MariaDB, DynamoDB, and MongoDB.
- Integrate payment providers and support payment and subscription workflows.
- Contribute to fraud detection and prevention capabilities.
- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call and incident-management processes.
- Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
- Collaborate with product, design, quality, and data teams in an Agile environment.
- Help maintain systems that meet PCI compliance and other security requirements.
## Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building robust backend services.
- Strong experience with at least one backend language such as Java, Go, Python, PHP, TypeScript, or Node.js.
- Experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, RDS, or ECS.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MariaDB and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Understanding of scalable and distributed backend systems.
- Experience with production operations, on-call rotations, and incident management.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in an Agile engineering environment.
## Nice to Have
- Experience with payment platforms or subscription systems.
- Knowledge of payment fraud detection and prevention.
- Experience with PCI-compliant systems.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Experience operating high-volume production services.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and CI/CD.
